What is Kingdom Education?
What is kingdom education? Glen Schultz defines it as “a life-long, Bible-based, Christ-centered process of leading a child to Christ, building a child up in Christ, and equipping a child to serve Christ” (Schultz, 29). Big Valley Christian School’s mission parallels this definition as we seek to nurture and equip our preschool - 12th grade students to impact the world for Christ. And here’s the amazing part! We get to partner with families and the church to fulfill this mission!
So where do we begin? The greatest place to start is to point children to the Gospel of the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Further, we set our children up for success when we teach them to put God first and when their education is built on His Word (Deuteronomy 6:4 - 9).
What does this look like at home? One way to bring your child up in the life-long, Bible-based, Christ-centered process of kingdom education is to share your personal experiences of God’s faithfulness in your daily life: What prayers have been answered? Where has God shown up? How have you felt the promptings of the Holy Spirit? What are you grateful for? Make your conversations about God a common part of your daily connection with your child.
As you fulfill your mission to raise up your child to grow in Christ and serve Him, we have a great resource for you. You can access your free subscriptions to an online resource called RightNow Media which is full of biblically-based videos, studies and tools. http://www.rightnowmedia.org/Account/Invite/BVCS.
It’s an honor to partner with you in God’s mission!
