It’s Time for Us to DO Something!
The Big Valley Christian School Do-A-Thon was an idea birthed out of necessity. During the 2020-2021 school year, we had to come up with a way to do just about everything differently, and how we approached fundraising was no different.
Each year, we have a preschool ride-a-thon and an elementary jog-a-thon. But as we began planning for our fall 2020 fundraising event we decided to change things up. So we began brainstorming ways in which we could make a better connection to our mission. Also, our Chapel theme for the year was to be Doers of the Word. And so the Do-A-Thon was created! We get to live out our mission to nurture and equip students to IMPACT the world for Christ through serving our community.
We saw a great chance to expand our reach beyond preschool and elementary and create a school-wide opportunity to focus on impacting our community through individual or group service projects. Through this 2+ week time, all BVCS students, staff, and parents can serve in our community while raising money for BVCS. However, raising funds takes a back seat to having our community serve others.
Here’s how it works:
Every BVCS student (family and staff) is encouraged to impact our community by serving others.
They ask their friends and family to sponsor their service project.
