What Can I Say?

Next week, the entire Big Valley Christian School staff will get together for our All Staff Year End Meeting. During this annual meeting, we take time to celebrate all that God has done during the school year. As I plan our time together, I usually make sure I take about 45 minutes to speak to the staff and celebrate their accomplishments. More than any other year, this year’s 45 minutes feels very weighty. What can I say that could adequately capture, reflect and celebrate this crazy year? What can I say that can communicate my gratitude for everything the BVCS team was able to accomplish? What can I say that can articulate my respect for the work ethic and determination demonstrated through these people? Well...here’s what I’ve come up with so far:

First, I could remind the staff how grateful I am that they were willing to step out in faith, out of their comfort zones, and launch an elaborate Distance Learning Day Camp plan so parents could choose to send their kids to campus.

Or I could talk about how this group of over 100 educators overcame countless obstacles to offer on-campus options for over 700 students ALL YEAR: August 12 - May 27. That’s a big accomplishment to highlight!

I could certainly talk all about how the staff stayed true to our mission to nurture and equip every student for Jesus Christ in the midst of a world filled with turmoil. I’d want them to hear how proud I am that they showed up and worked their hearts out, even when it was not easy.

How about the personal impact they have had in my own family’s life?  With my youngest graduating high school on Friday, I am feeling VERY sentimental and grateful for all these wonderful people who have shown all three of my children the love of Christ. I could share this - but I might not make it through without becoming a crying mess!

I certainly know I could talk all about our amazing community of parents and grandparents that have partnered with BVCS since March 2020 through prayer, encouragement, and financial support. We all have experienced the BVCS community rally around us all.

See what I mean?! There are too many things to say. Whatever I decide on, I hope the staff hears my heart for each of them: I am proud of their tenacious hard work and hearts for Christ and kids. I know this year wasn’t easy for anyone, but it was 100% worth it.

How about you? Is there something that you would like to share, celebrating what God has done during the school year? Feel free to send us an email!
